What did you think of this book? I loved the beginning but felt it got "cheap" at the end. I know it's not a true story, but could be. I really felt that the quality of writing changed a lot in the second half. Not sure if I want to read his second book.

I loved the KiteRunner could not put it down unti I got to the end, however, I could not get into the Thousand Splendid Suns. My sister like Thousand but could not get into KiteRunner. If you like non-fiction watch C-Span2 Book TV on the weekends. 48 hours of non-fiction books. The author's discuss the book and a Q&A follows.

I also loved Kite Runner but could not get into TSS, I would suggest that you put that one aside for awhile and then pick it up a couple of month later. Its seems easier to read when the KR is not still so fresh in your mind.

Could not get into TSS either, but my sister loved it but could not get into the KiteRunner. I posted (but I do not know who all got it) if you like non-fiction books to watch C-Span2, on weekends, 48 hours of non-fiction books, the author's discuss their books and a Q&A follows. Very good program.

Oh I just loved this book...with so much hype surrounding it I had high expectations for it and this book really did live up to my expectations. Its a very touching story and very well narrated ... the other book by the same author " A Thousand Splendid Suns" is a bit disturbing and depressing. Kite Runner is way better than the other one.

Hosseini's second book is also good. Whilst THE KITE RUNNER is based on male characters, A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS is based on women. I think both are very good. They are indeed a good read.

Yes they are both such amazing books. I read The Kite Runner first and it broke my heart. I found A Thousand Splendid Suns hit closer to home from a woman's perspective.

I've just finnish reading the kite runner.. wow. i really liked it a lot! made me feel ashamed of my own life though, for not appreciating daily small things better.. read thousands splendid suns before this one, and i think their both very good, in different ways though.. what about the movie, havent seen it, is it any good?? and is it a lot different from the book?

Only The Kite Runner has been made into a film. Well, it is a good film, but as usual (in my opinion) the book is much better. The film is very faithful to the story but it obviously lacks the intensity which only the book manages to put across.

i read Splendid Suns first, and read The Kite Runner much later than "everyone " else had .
They were both wonderful. I think that they were both brilliant, touching. I
wouldn't let your feelings about one book, determine if you read the other, they are both such different stories.

I have read The Kite Runner about 3 years ago and I highly recommend it as much as i recommend A Thousand Spendid Suns. Some of us might not really be drawn to stories influenced by war but there is no doubt that the novel (s) draw so much emotions. It helped me see a different spectrum of life and on how people can battle on amidst their struggles. It is a very inspiring read and a page turner.

I think everyone have their own taste when it comes to reading books some might not like this book some like me like it. Books can be very subjective.

Some very evocative and powerfully described scenes, but not quite convincing or credible on the whole. Still enjoyable if a little simplistic. Better than a Thousand Splendid Suns anyway which is very stereotyped and a black and white story of dark villains and innocent damsels. A little more subtlety would have made both books muuch better.

Amazing author. Someone whose books open your eyes. Kite Runner is very possibly my favourite book but I loved TSS too. I read them a year apart; definitely don't try them back to back. Thats probably a little too much.

I spent a good portion of the Kite Runner questioning if it was really fiction. Its the only time I've see an author tell a story so well I can't believe it's not just a biography of his own life.
