Not that I don't love him but in real life he would be considered a stalker, control freak, and weirdo.

Yep, but then again we wouldn't consider him a vampire in real life either.

it's not real life, it's a book, uhmmm wonder when the last time i saw a vamp and a werewolf in my general passing? As a fictional character Edward holds lots of qualities of what the vaules of a 100+ year olds would of faced in their time, find it a struggle for him to apply those in today's society, Bella gives him a chance, come on doesn't anyone remember what it was like to be 16 and "in love" Bella is typical 2009 teenager, Edward is a typical 1900 hundreds teen, i find it a great read how they make it work for them.

I'm not even 40 and I can't stand to be around High schoolers. I find it very hard to believe that if I was a 100 years old and had an eternity before me that I would want to spend any time around them. It also makes no sense why if he's so sensitized to their smells and doesn't want to eat people why he would put himself in the hormone filled prison of a high school to be continually tempted. Go live in the woods!

His behavior is beyond the pale in terms of controlling uberjealous possessive jerkwad and Bella's coy playing with him and romanticizing of it sets back feminism to the 1900's. I can't believe anyone would want their kids to read this poor excuse for a model of gender roles. I can even less believe how many intelligent competent women love this trash.

Did you even read the book or you just watched the movie or even better read a review?

You are free to have an opinion but don't be disrespectful. People have different tastes and I'm sure there are books in your "library" someone would consider non-readable

I read the book...all of it...as painful as it was...trapped on a four hour plane to california with nothing else to read. I refuse to waste money on the movie, either one of them.

I was not disrespectful to anyone...merely stating the way that this undermines the women's movement and feminism in addition to being just overhyped bad fiction. I find the romanticizing of possessive, uberjealous, dangerous men to be not only offensive but dangerous for all women, particularly young one's who then begin to think this is a healthy model for relationship and romanticize Edward's stalker tendencies. I've worked with teen girls in therapy who were in abusive relationships because this kind of love relationship is modeled for them in their family lives...so when I find a super popular fad doing the same, I got to speak out.

I'm in my 40's, and I LOVED the series. I also LOVE being around teenagers. OMG... I was a teenager once!!!!! Teens bring an amazing ambiance to the world. Their joy and positive attitudes are contagious. Christopher, maybe you just don't spend enough time around our youth. Remember - they are a our future. I feel you were being disrespectful to teens as well.
