All the reviews I read about A wild sheep chase were more than good. I started to read it and found the first few chapters amazingly written. Then when Murakami hits the real topic which is the sheep chase, it starts to become dull, it's not even absurd, it's just meaningless and boring. Whoever compared him to Kafka hasn't really understood Kafka. I don't know if I'll give "one of the greatist novelists of the century" another chance!

Aww, I really hope you didn't pick THIS book with which to introduce yourself to Murakami. Try Wind-up Bird Chronicle.

This is kinda funny. I like Murakami a lot but the one book that didnt hook me was Wind-up Bird Chronicle. A Wild Sheep Chase also wasn't that interesting. I suggest the Norwegian Wood =)

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I might try another Murakami. I picked the wrong book maybe even though I think no matter what they write, a good writer is a good writer and Murakami didn't impress me.
