A few friends of mine have dove in to Pillars of the Earth and have good things to say, but I still need a little more convincing. And so this is your opportunity to persuade me to check this story out.

Now, wow me...

This is definitely worth reading, one of the best books I've ever read. I could not put it down! I guarantee you will enjoy it.

Anything recomended by Oprah I would give a miss- plus the guy is a frustrated [wealthly] socialuist -a weird combination! Maybe indicates a lack of imagination?

If you like historic fiction, medieval stories, enjoyed Robin hood and other British epics, this is a book for you. I enjoyed this massive story very much.

I thought Pillars was a great book. I was sad when it was over. It shows you how common people lived in an unfamiliar time period and has an interesting story as well. Also, it is rather ignorant to suggest that anything Oprah recommends is not worth reading considering the vast range of books she (and those she has working for her) recommend.

I made it about halfway through this, and then had to just stop. I thought the characters were too obvious, and the story tedious and boring. Like most of Oprah's recommendations, I vote "skip it!"
