I liked the book and kept wondering if it depicts the real India... or it is purely fictional... Slumdog millionaire seems quite close to what is covered in the book

Yes, in my opinion, it is a truthful depiction of urban India. I've myself wondered how the rapid rise in the affluent class effects others around them. If you take it a step further, one has to wonder how educated workers employed in non-technology sectors feel when they see that drivers and maids working for the rich make more than them.

I think some part related to urban india is true ........but the part abt the darkness isnt close to wht it actually is ..........infact indian rural growth has been much better ..........and yes again slumdog millionarie is far from truth .....ultimately its a work of fiction

India is really Diverse.. its hard to just make it in a movie or write it down.
Even history has many versions here!

Nope, hardly any part of it is true. Only 10% is. I live in India and so I know

Any country's real picture is not necessarily captured by authors

Oh, I felt its 100% true reflection of that goes in Northern part of our country in rich circles... Except that it has a few dramatic sequences, this one captures the facts really well... I'm waiting for a good movie to come out of this book...

You cant claim it to be entirely true but there are facts that u cannot deny either . In fact Mr. Adiga gets away with the booker for writing something very far from reality. Yes , there are people who abuse power in India but isnt that true for any part of the world? Urban life if fast and cruel here I agree.and success is extremely difficultt to achieve but u dont have to murder your boss to do so.

Agree it is not entirely True.. even if you read the book it largely relates to the northern part of India but it is not true for that entire region as well It would be largely wrong to conclude that a sample represents a diverse and complicated universe as India in all it colors.

The white tiger, more than being depiction of India ,is a story that says ,what deprivation can do to the souls of the most harmless looking souls of the world..the souls that are striken by poverty....It could have had happened in any part of the world...
As the story concludes with the explanation to the deeds of the driver(Balram halwaii) that its the "Desperation Of The Deprived" that leads to sins....

According to locals, the part about the corrupt politics is in fact an attack on the politics of a certain state in India, done indirectly (as in Gulliver's travels) for the obvious reasons. Not all India is like this. The description of the social behavior, casts and relations between people of different status is, in my view, quite accurate.

As white tiger ia a work of fiction so we can say that fiction somwhere relates or connotes the reality, in my opinion situation is more worse than what Arvind depicted in his work,

Arvind might have depicted a story which might be true for a living being... but it doesnt mean that it has to be true with relation to a country.. So it cannot be said that the story of white tiger is depicted correctly to India.
