A Reader posted a review at 2010-10-25 04:00:02 for The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud: A Novel [Paperback].
(Language: English)
Although this book is fairly predictable, the way in which the stor is told makes the predictiblity fade right away. Charlie is an amazing character.....I only wish there were men like him in real life!! Read it, love it, remember it and love when the stars walk backwards

A Reader posted a review at 2010-02-12 10:36:51 for I Did a Bad Thing.
(Language: English)
Yawnworthy, drawn out, predictable......could have been a short story, that could have made it faster paced and more interesting. Don't bother....

If you haven't read this book, read it immediately. If you have and you didn't cry, you are officially dead and probably not reading that much any more. Beautiful, beautiful story. |
A Reader posted a review at 2009-09-21 08:21:17 for The Bad Mother's Handbook: A Novel.
(Language: English)
This book is amazing. I've never read anything else that describes being a mum so perfectly; the balance between loving your children to distraction and wanting to beat them to death at the same time!!!!! Wonderful story, very funny, made me cry. Check out the ITV version, it's also pretty damn good.....plus it has Robert yummy Pattinson in.......Loved this book.....real, relatable characters, oddly nostalgic for we young mums. Funny as hell, I laughed out loud every other page. It's a must read. FINALLY I find a book that understands that you can love your kids to distraction and still want to hit then with something heavy around the head n neck!!!!! I love this book. It made me laugh til I cried, then made me cry. A must for anyone, if they have kids or not. This book is amazing. I've never read anything else that describes being a mum so perfectly; the balance between loving your children to distraction and wanting to beat them to death at the same time!!!!! A Reader posted a review at 2009-09-18 08:07:28 for THE RESCUE by Nicholas Sparks.
(Language: English)
I'm getting severely disillusioned with this guy. Out of the 5 books I've read of his, only 2 have been any good....if you're wondering, they're The Notebook and A Walk To Remember. This book was a whole load of trite over-sentamentalisd tosh. And I LOVE over-sentamentalised tosh........will give him one more try then I'm out. |

A Reader posted a review at 2009-09-18 07:59:30 for The Lovely Bones A Novel.

This was an interesting take on the whole life-after-death thing. The murder scene was really hard to read; unsurprisingly, this book made me cry......

A Reader posted a review at 2009-09-03 07:32:32 for 1984 Nineteen Eighty-Four.
(Language: English)
This is the most horrific book I have ever read. Orwell's uncanny vision of our future is not only probable but actual. His prophecy of human behaviour is scarily real. The worst part is knowing that we do it to ourselves.......I wonder if he ever met Larkin?

Seriously disturbing (as the title might suggest!!) Well worth the read. It's interesting to see how the character's psychosis is developed. which is done extremely well
