A simple (yet complicated) love story about giving up hope and faith. "How can I love you when I don't even know who you are?"

"Interview with the Vampire" is a truly remarkable book. Without claiming to be a fantasy know-it-all, I'd like to say that the characters in this book are probably some of the most well-developed fantasy creatures out there. Each one has their own doubts, fears, hopes, and a whole system of values. They might not always act as expected from them, but then again, do they have to be perfect, all-knowing, wise and so very distant from humans every single time?

A horror book about childhood, the friends we make, and all that we leave behind when we step into the larger world. Whoever would have guessed?

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
One Fish Two Fish Read Fish Blue Fish doesn't read like a story, but is more of a collection of child-length short stories. Each page is a new adventure as we explore everything from the fish to a Wump, a Zans, a Yink, a Nook, a Ying, a Yop and many other silly things. Not only does this book hold the attention of the kids all the way through, but it makes the reader giggle from beginning to end.

Perhaps a curious surprise for any reader picking it up for the first time will be to find that Frank is not just full of feeling, but also ability. Her writing is characterized by keen execution and meticulous devotion to excelling at her craft. Her writing is mature, at times bitter, but almost always touched by a kind humanism that finds its strength in the certainty that human beings are better than they think they are. It's little wonder that people who've endured their own sufferings take solace in a book like this. The work has survived and flourished even where the girl never got to.

James Herriot shares stories from his days as a vet in Yorkshire, England. A fantastic storyteller and authentic friend to all types of animals, he writes stories that express his deep passion for veterinary work and the human/non-human connection. With little irony, the reader is drawn into the sincere, though sometimes fictional, accounts of his profession and the lives which made it so memorable. I often found myself with tears running down my cheeks.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
A familiar title, Romeo and Juliet is a heart-breaking story about a pair of "star-crossed" lovers. This is an inspiring literature written in Elizabethan age. Because of the ancient grudge, two households, Capulet and Montague are separated from the world with the hatred sword, otherwise blood. Until Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet's love becomes the key to open up the peace.

I love this book. It has all the elements of a good children's story. An ordinary event--factory owner seeks an heir to takeover his business after he's gone--is made extraordinary with vivid imagery, hyperbole, magic, and wit.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
"Green Eggs and Ham" is a wonderful book for beginning readers. There are just 50 different words in the entire book, of which many are either sight words or rhyming pairs. The fact that there is a lot of repetition in the story also helps out the beginning reader.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
After reading this book I had to take another look at the title, the author did a great job describing the inner nature of the boy by using this title. Every creature in the text represents an attribute of the boy, even the words that he uses with his mother were used by the creatures; for instance, when he told his mother that he was going to eat her up, these are the exact words the creatures use as he departs the island. I also like the way the author gave the creatures human attributes, the hair and clothing causes the reader to focus on the odd looking creatures even more wondering why they have hair like people or modern clothing. It was intentional the author wants to show us what the inner person could look like. I like the emphasis placed on the size of the creatures. They are much large than the boy, yet he has all of the power. I believe that this represents choices we make. The situation can be much large than we are, but we have the power to overcome or defeat the situation if we choose. The colors that are used are natural earth tone colors that make the reader feel as if he/she is right there taking part in the adventure. This is a great story.

This is my favorite Roald Dahl book. Matilda has a pretty yucky home life and school isn't much better for her. She discovers a talent she didn't know she had that turns everything around. Pretty funny and a dose of sweet revenge.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
This is an amazing young adult book by a brilliant author. Sarah Dessen, author of several other books including THAT SUMMER and SOMEONE LIKE YOU, does an awesome job of keeping the reader's attention throughout THIS LULLABY. She does it with her original story, told in Remy's unique voice. It doesn't hurt that Sarah Dessen is great at creating fresh, original, believable characters. Thoughtful and powerful, this book also has its moments that will make readers laugh, which is a nice change of pace in the story. Every aspect of this novel surpasses expectations.

This book is a classic. It teaches children the true meaning of Christmas. The number of gifts under the tree, decorations outside, or food on the table is not what matters. The rhyming of the book makes it even more interesting and exciting to read. This book was so great that it was made into a movie that is watched by families yearly during the Christmas season.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
For me it captures the sense of secrecy that hides much more than a garden...the inner workings of a child's mind, that adults have no clue about! I am also reminded that the same is true for many adults, myself included. After reading this book, I always feel a renewed sense of commitment to getting to know people beyond the public surface and letting more people see the real me.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is about a small mouse that gets a cookie. After receiving the cookie he then asks for a glass of milk. After drinking the glass of milk he keeps asking for more things. At the end he ends up thirsty and wanting another cookie. This book could be a very fun read for children. The illustrations that the book provides are very colorful and vibrant. Children would easily be attracted to the illustrations.

This is a great story about a brother and sister home alone on a rainy day with nothing to do. These children just sit starring out the window at the rain when suddenly a tall cat in a hat comes barging in the house. The cat in the hat tries to create some fun and excitement for these children which soon leads to disaster. This is a great book for children.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
This book was fabulous! And I always adore a book that turns out just the way I want it to. Emily Giffin covered all the emotions I like a book to evoke; happiness, sorrow, suspense, and of course love! She made me care for her characters and really buy into what they were feeling and the motivations for their actions. I like that the characters traveled and experienced new things that even I haven't just so I could kind of get a glimpse of things I want to see in my life.
