No where near as good as the first book. The ending was a bit vague as well and after almost 1000 pages the ending should be spectacular not leaving you with a frown on your face and creases in your forhead!

Dark and twisty for sure, very, very grim. The deep dark sadness kept me turning the pages but it wasn't until the middle of the book that i had that moment where i didn't want to put the book down.

My least favorite in the series so far, the others have been really good. I hope the next one is better~

(Language: English)
Way toooooo long...lots of unneccessary detail about characters that only make a brief appearence. The ending left me thinking why the hell did I waste my time reading that? Don't bother.

I loved Midwives one of my favorites, this one however not so great. It got interesting at the very end, I wish the ending occured somewhere in the middle of the story and could have been explored further.

This was a disappointment. Its unfortunate because Jodi Picoult is a favorite. The characters where poorly developed and the pace was off. Don't bother.

(Language: English)
What an amazing journey. I learned so much about Indian culture reading this book. The main character in the story has escaped from prison and finds himself in Bombay where he meets an ecclectic group of people. He finds himself surrounded by brutality, chaos, war, crime, death, love, friendship, and he is searching for truth. He has moments of clarity, moments of self awareness that are profound...and then he is plunged into darkness again and again as his journey unfolds.

A Reader posted a review at 2010-11-20 03:57:32 for The Mummy at the Dining Room Table: Eminent Therapists Reveal Their Most Unusual Cases.
(Language: English)
After reading this book I realized just how "normal" my life really is, I was shocked by some of the stories in here...they were certainly entertaining. The book refers to multiple therapists and their most outrageous pts...or pts that taught them an important lesson. The therapist that where interviewed for the book are published authors themselves and I found quite a few interesting enough to follow-up on and read a few of their published works at a later date.

A Reader posted a review at 2010-10-02 10:16:04 for The Glass Castle A Memoir.
(Language: English)
Recollections from her childhood growing up with her gypsy parents....the poverty and the struggle of survival, always on the move, the stories were entertaining. However, the book read as one story on top of another with very little insight into how her experiences shaped her and made her feel. Some people are of the opinion that she embellished a bit and did not relate the events accurately. I don't propose to know the answer to that but I can understand how you would get that feeling because there was very little connection to the writer even though she was relaying stories of her life. There is a sense of detachment in her writing.

This was a difficult book to read, that being said no one writes like Truman Capote. His literary style surrounds you while your reading him. You find yourself immersed in the environment the story unfolds in, he has an amazing gift.

(Language: English)
fabulous book, a bit slow at first, focuses on the environment in which the events of the past have taken place for quite some time. Slipping back and forth between the 19th century and today and watching the plot unfold kept me wanting to read more and more. Ive become very interested in tarot since reading this book and am thinking about purchasing a deck and learning more about it.

One of the most inspirational stories I've ever read. The power of simple living, of living in the present, and being present. We are all on a journey...I only hope that someday I can see with such clarity.
