(Language: English)
Oh this book is when it all starts to get really good and really good and dark. Why I loved this book 1) Professor Treelawney (sorry is I spelled her name incorrecly) - Emma Thompson is brilliant in the movies as well. 2) The cure for Dementors is chocolate. (Why can't the cure for anything in the Muggle world be chocolate?)3) The book provides further proof that the character of Hermione Granger is based on me as she states one of my favourite phrases as a child, "We're going to get in so much trouble." after attacking Snape.

(Language: English)
This is the second-best Harry Potter book. I know some people got upset with how angry Harry got in this book, but I think his anger was justifiable and necessary. We needed a part where Harry, if not thought about joining the Dark Side (Join the Dark Side Luke) at least showed signs of how he could turn out wrong. Plus, this book was long (yea!) and I loved all the politics in it - esp all the stuff about the ministry of magic.

(Language: English)
What can I say about Wuthering Heights? Other than it's Wuthering Heights. The title says it all.

Mr. Knightly may be my favourite male Austen main character, but Elizabeth Bennet is certainly my favourite female main character. My first and favourite Austen book, even if that's not the most sophisticated choice. I still admire her witty writing every time I open it up.

(Language: English)
I loved the opening, but was a little disappointed with how short the book was. I think things like the Harry Potter/Ginny relationship could have been a bit more elaborated upon. Still, it is a Harry Potter book, so I can't be too critical.

(Language: English)
I wasn't a big fan of this book, almost gave up on the series after reading this one but my Mom who had already read the third one convinced me to keep on reading, until I read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and then I was sort of amazed at how much pre-planning/plotting Rowling did. It gives the second book so much more meaning. I must say this was my favourite Harry Potter movie so far. Kenneth Branagh is brilliant as Professor Lockhart.

(Language: English)
If any one knows me and my brother, you'll get why I liked this book as a child. Big Hint: My brother is Sam-I-am and I won't eat green eggs and ham.

(Language: English)
Yes, I'm still upset that Beth dies and that Jo didn't marry Laurie, although I understand why she didn't know that I'm an adult. (I'm an adult? scary) One of my all time favourites as a child.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-12 12:30:37 for The Time Traveler's Wife (Harvest Book).
(Language: English)
This book came along at a really good time for me. I really was beginning to think that I had read every decent book ever written and then I came across this book at a bookstore, read the cover, took it home, opened it up and read it for two days straight until I was done. It's wonderfully plotted, but also makes you think about our world, especially about fate, but in an entertaining non-preachy way. It is an aquired taste, though, I found out after recommending it to my book club as approx 90% of the people in my book club hated the book, but the 10% that liked it loved it. I think the science fiction aspect of it threw people off.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-12 12:26:41 for Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire: Book 4.
(Language: English)
My favourite of the Harry Potter books. I'm not sure why, except to to say that perhaps it has something to do with how much Rowling expanded the wizard world in this book, what with the Quidditch World Cup, The Triwizard Tournament, and The Deatheaters. It's also the climax of the story and that's usually the most exciting/tense part of any story so... Two thumbs way up on this one.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-12 12:22:59 for Harry Potter and the deathly hallows (ill., engl.ed).
(Language: English)
I was slightly disappointed by this book, but I have yet to read it for a second time, so my opinions might change, as they did with The Half Blood Prince, when I read it again. I both did and did't like how dark it was. The part when Harry and Hermione were sort of stuck camping and hiding from Voldemort got kind of tiring to read, but it's the part that stuck with me the must and the part that I think about all the time. Okay, spoiler alert, I thought killing Collin Creevy was a total copout and that J.K. Rowling was being too manipulative with our feelings on that one. She should have killed off a more important character instead. As if Ron, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny would all make it out alive?

Oh, it all started so innocently. Makes me feel all magical and nostalgic on the inside.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-11 08:37:20 for Penguin Classics Jane Eyre.
(Language: English)
When I was younger, I liked Wuthering Heights better than Jane Eyre, but Jane Eyre has definetely grown with me while Wuthering Heights really hasn't and it's now my favourite of the two. The last time I read it, I remember being shocked by how much sex drives the plot of the novel. I suppose I should have been shocked by my own naivety.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-11 08:28:44 for Emma (Bantam Classics).
(Language: English)
Emma is my second favourite Jane Austen book. Although, if I had to pick one of her male characters to be my boyfriend, Mr. Knightly would trump Mr. Darcy hands down.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-11 08:24:24 for Matilda.
(Language: English)
Matilda was my favourite Roald Dahl book as a child. (Sorry Willy Wonka but your Chocolate Factory was extraordinarily frightening and I always suspsected that you were slightly evil). I totally related to the misundestood Matilda and her passion for books. (Although, don't get the wrong impression my parents were wonderful. I was no candidate for FACS.)

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-10 11:51:33 for Purple, Green and Yellow (Annikins).
(Language: English)
My favourite book from my favourite story book author. I laughed and laughed and laughed the first time I read it and still find meaning in it today. I mean they way it approaches the topic of rabid consumerism in our material world... brilliant.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-08-10 11:46:41 for Dr. Seuss's ABC (I Can Read It All By Myself Beginner Books).
(Language: English)
Excellent book. It taught me my alphabet and I can still remember parts of it. "Big A, Little A, What begins with A? Aunt Allie's Alligator. A. A.A."
