When you combine that eye with a smooth prose style and a fashion magazine setting, then you have an enjoyable reading experience. It's an amusing book. The descriptions of downtown life in NYC, the side characters and the horrible antics of mean Miranda Priestly are fun.if you love fashion and gossip The Devil Wears Prada will make you smile

I finished the book while I was in Tornto, Canda. I actually really liked the story line because it focused a lot on Jeremy's job (as a journa-list/ghost hunter) and there was a little bit of mystery involved. As for the characters, I didn't have a hard time accepting their attraction. True Believer was enchanting, as well, and it kept my interest throughout the story. I am continually amazed at his insight into the female psyche.

This is my first Jodi Picoult novel. This book held my interest from the first sentence, the characters' experiences provide different viewpoints on similar topics (false accusation of rape vs. reactions of rape victims). Presented in flashback form, characters are developed and their motivations become understood. Jodi Picoult is effective at adding to the layers of the story as well as in peeling back layers of characters' personalities.

This was a truely suspenseful book. There was much action and I really find that that's the best key in a book. It was very suspenseful too.You can't be afraid of death and read this book either. So you better be ready for a story full of suspense, murder and even a little love.It was my third book by Mary Higgins Clark and I have more books by her in my tbr list, that I can't wait to read them.

A interesting novel written by Danielle Steel about a couple named Marielle and Malcom who have their child Teddy abducted. The story takes place in the late 1930's around the time of the Lindbergh kidnapping. The first suspect is Marielle's first love Charles Delauney. When the trial begins, secrets unfold about Marielle and Malcom. Through all the turmoil, there is a happy ending!

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
Stephanie Plum is an appealing heroine. She acts tough, but in reality she's all too human. The plot is complicated enough to keep the reader engaged, and the action never lets up. There were several parts I thought I had figured out only to learn later I was wrong. And Grandma Mazur is a riot as she gets more involved in the story. This novel is a fantastic sequel, and will keep you curious for what happens in the following book.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
With her usual grace and compassion, Mary Higgins Clark's book The Second Time Around explores the mind of a mass killer; in fact, a good part of the book is told from his point of view. It's a complicated plot with everything spinning off from a corporate crime committed by a character who then dies in a small plane crash. As is usual with her books - indeed most mysteries, there is the sense of a clock ticking as the book nears its end: will the culprit be caught before...whatever?Very well done, and a classic Higgins plot line.

loved the boook, a book that made smile, quote from it a couple of passages and a book that made me cry as well. You are immediately captivated into the story, reliving it, feeling it and savoring each and every emotion. It is a sensory experience reading this story and you feel like you become Noah or Allie, the main characters, the soul mates. By the end of the book, tears are sure to be shed, deep sighs emitted and then one is left thinking is such a love possible and where does one find a love like this?

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
Absolutely charming! I absolutely loved, loved, loved this book. It's technically classified as a mystery because the heroine, 30ish Precious Ramotswe, operates Botswana's first female-owned detective agency, The Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency. But to pigeonhole this sublime, wonderful book as just a mystery is to unjustly limit its appeal. Mma Ramotswe does solve a few cases, a lot of them involving matters of the heart, during the course of the book. She does so with integrity, a gentle sense of humor , compassionand just plain common sense. The mysteries are fun but what makes this book so special is the author's ability to weave together the themes of African tradition, nationhood, pride, simplicity and independence without being the least bit preachy . The writing is just so simple and beautiful . It just stays with you. Anyone who likes mysteries, or anyone who enjoys just plain good writing will fall in love with Mma. Ramotswe. A superb book. I really enjoyed the humor and visual scenes about Botswana in this

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
An exceptionally good book. My first Ann Hood novel proved to be for the lovers of deeply moving and emotional reading material that grabs through the pages and squeezes the heart until tears come out. I never wanted this book to end! If you knit you will love it, if you don't you will still love it and you will want to start to knit. I enjoyed every minute spent reading The Knitting Circle. Knitting is far more than just a device in this well-crafted tale. It provides the warmth and the intimacy, and is the central focus for a group of people (mostly women) who are in various stages of emotional distress.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
The earth turns and the wind blows and sometimes some marvelous scrap of paper is blown against the fence for us to find. And once found, we become aware there are places out there that are both foreign and familiar. Funny what the wind brings. And now it brings "The Kite Runner," a beautiful novel by Afghan-American Khaled Hosseini that ranks among the best-written and provocative stories of the year so far. Just a great story with wonderfully complex characters. Probably the best book I have read this year. Hosseini makes us laugh, feel deep sadness and then redemption, a chance to be good again or something close to that. Read this book; You will not be dissapointed

The Horse Whisperer is a truly remarkable peace of literature, no matter the age of the reader. Nicholas Sparks leads us through a reality check in what matters most in life when everyday illusions are shed. On her search to give her daughter back the horse that once lifted her life, the mother finds even that even in a amniable wedlock, she has been robbed of true passion in her life. Passion is found, and her daughters youth is once restored as it should be. The style of writing in this novel is one that invokes a mutitude of questions that lies within each one of us.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
It’s the second Indian book and I decided to give at a chance I am one of these people that when they start a book have to finish it no mater what. The truth is that the author honestly tried to face the major cultural dilemmas of post-colonial India ; what all are to remain 'pure' and untouched and what all are to be sold? a novel is about story-telling and she hasn't yet learnt that. There is no underlying rhythm in the time-travels we encounter all so very often.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
I enjoyed reading it, the book is like its main character, steady, honest and human. This book is not as much about knitting as it is about the lives that women have. You may be represented by one of the characters. The book is about relationships that women have; the girlfriend kind, the boyfriend kind, the mother-daughter kind, the fairy godmother kind and some others. The story touches on lives issues most significantly single motherhood; less significantly growing older, race relations and finding one's passion/purpose. The book is about fulfilling your life. It is a touchy feely kind of book but not syrupy or sweet. It does not lecture. It is just a good story. I recommend it to knitters and others.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
This first novel by Anthony Capella is a fresh and sassy romp of a love story. First,it's a juicy love story. Second, it's an interesting off-beat tour of Italy. Third, and most important to me, it reveals once and for all that haute cuisine is not an exclusive property of the French Very Italian, very gourmet, very funny, very sexy. Witty, satirical in places, sad in other places, but ultimately satisfying, Capella has captured personalities with style and precision. It is a joy for any reader who loves food to read about the dishes that Bruno creates. This was a yummy book because of the delicacies and because of the love story.

I loved this book. It was awesome! Reading this novel was like riding a roller coaster, one thrill after another. It was great. It was wonderful. I absolutely loved it. Every time I thought I had it all figured out, my theory is proved wrong and not just a little off, completely wrong. You can't be sure who's on whose side and many of the characters aren't clearly good or bad (depending on your morals). I will continue reading his books thats for sure.

didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
A book that I thought that I should start reading some clasical litrature. A sharp and witty comedy of manners played out in early 19th Century English society, a world in which men held virtually all the power and women were required to negotiate mine-fields of social status, respectability, wealth, love, and sex in order to marry both to their own liking and to the advantage of their family. Flawless prose, crackling wit, good drama, fully developed characters and a perfect plotline make this the best novel in the English language.

A Reader posted a review at 2008-02-10 02:39:01 for Persuasion. (Language: English)
didn't like itit was okliked itloved itit was amazing
Like all of her novels, Jane Austen's PERSUASION is essentially a comedy of manners--a work in which the characters must negotiate a complex code of conduct in order to survive, much less achieve their ends. And in a certain sense the novel is indicative of Austen's great talent, razor sharp, laced with irony and wit, and remarkably phrased. And yet PERSUASION is quite unlike Austen's other novels in the story it tells. To tell the truth the chapter before the last was my favorite. This novel was the last one that Austen wrote before she died. It is a more mature novel, dealing with many issues not found in Austen's previous novels. One reason why people find faults with the book is that Anne Elliot, the heroine, is not as spunky or witty as an Elizabeth Bennett or an Emma Woodhouse. There is not so much wit flowing in the dialogue between characters, or even dialogue in general. But these differences between the novels make this one so unique.

Hey this book is finished and I liked it because it is light and funny. They were eating so much pizza that I had to ordr one. I could not put it down, untill I read the last page.On a personal note, there is a lesson here for us all about the untapped potential we have to do more than we think we can.Taking on a major goal is the starting point. Usually, we wait until we have no choice but to get better. However, we have the choice to decide to get better whenever we choose. We can have more, be more, and have better relationships with others by deciding to do so
