(Language: English)
This is the best book I have read this year. I loved it and could not put it down. I haven't felt this way about any book since, coincidentally, since The Dark Tower. Though I didn't know Hill's identity before I read him. A pleasant surprise though! Just a really well written book, a great story, an extremely promising new author. Read this book!!!! |

This book is actually written by the son of Stephen King, Joseph King, under the Pseudonym Joe Hill! It was good and, since finding out this very interesting detail, I want to read his new book even more!!!

really good! Couldn't put it down. Can't wait for next book. Really enjoyed the medical research and authenticity of the information contained in this book. Refreshingly unromantic vampire tale.

I loved Songs In Ordinary Time and read this book, hoping for the same kind of story. It disappointed me. I kept waiting, hoping for it to get better, but it never di. Easy read, not much to it, not compelling at all, in my opinion.

This book is amazing. I loved reading it. Once I got into it, I could not put it down. I must quote Stephen King as he wrote in his review that this is a novel where"even the subplots have subplots" and to agree that it is indeed "a gorgeous read", one of my favourites. I love that the author leaves no storyline hanging, there are no loose ends. He even gives you a little look into the what happens next with his characters, ten years later. The writing is beautiful, the twists kept me fooled and then delighted to discover that everything is connected somehow. Each character is memorable, inique, someone who you feel that you have known. You must read this book knowing that there are no accidental prose, everything is important. This book was a gift that I was lucky enough to come across. Let yourself become lost in it's pages and discover what a beuatiful masterpiece that this book truly is. |

not as amazing as I was hoping. I have to say that I was a little disappointed, which is unfortunate, because I love Stephen King's writing. I just didn't "fall in love" with any of the characters. I didn't go to bed thinking about the book and wake up wanting to read more. It just didn't pull me in. I was disappointed also in the ending. I wanted to know more about the aliens, though I suppose the whole point was to leave them under a veil of obscurity, not to be overcontemplated on purpose. I get it, but I don't have to like it! Looking forward to future works. I hear that another book in the Dark Tower series is in the works....THAT would be amazing! |
A Reader posted a review at 2008-09-26 05:31:57 for Wolves of the Calla (The Dark Tower, Book 5).
(Language: English)
This book is amazing. My second time reading the series and it's still my favourite set of books EVER. You really get to know the characters and the writing is so insanely imaginative and intertwined and most importantly, it is so beautifully written. SK fan forever. SUCH a fantastic book! |

I never could stand Dean Koontz but was sucked in by Odd Thomas and ultimately thought that "he" was really funny. This whole series was really great.

really well written but at then end I was disappointed and wanted more. It felt like there was so much description and understanding in the first three quarters of the book but then it just had a quickie, cop-out end.

A Reader posted a review at 2007-07-27 11:28:43 for The Dark Tower: 7.
(Language: English)
This is the most fantastic series I have ever read. So much emotion here for me and I love the continuous reference to other books.Stephen King is the master. I don't know if I quite felt fulfilled by the ending, but I accept it and respect it. I'm still torn a little about it though. I tried to read this book slowly cuz I didn't want it to end, that was how much I loved it. |

A Reader posted a review at 2007-07-27 12:09:29 for Forever Odd (Odd Thomas Novels).
(Language: English)
I'm not really a Koontz fan but I liked Odd Thomas. This book was good enough for me to want to read the next one but just good. I just hate the way he tends to over describe things to the point that he starts sounding like he's trying too hard to come across as intelligent and witty. Or maybe it's the narrative of Odd that makes it seem just a little too much sometimes...? I don't know. |

A Reader posted a review at 2007-07-17 10:53:03 for The Robber Bride.
(Language: English)
I love the writing in this book. It is so profound at times. So real. I found myself stopping here and there to write down various passages just because they moved me in some way. I just wanted to study each of the characters in turn. I love this book because I really couldn't relate to any of the characters, I really didn't like any of them....yet I couldn't put the book down. And then I realized that I was so drawn to this book because I developed a sense of knowing each of these women as I read about their lives. This book is cheesy, don't get me wrong, but beneath the surface, it goes far beyond. |
