Sadly, I did not love this book, though I wanted to.

I guess I know now what type of book all those Lifetime movies are based on... this is it--infused with cloying pathos and practically bludgeoning you on the head with all the dramatic choices. The ending was, if possible, even more of a letdown.

(Language: English)
I was somehow disappointed with this...while stylistically brilliant, structurally it lost me in places, and especially at the end.

One of the funniest and most exciting things I read--stylistically speaking. Brilliant!

(Language: English)
One of my top-ten books of all time. A fantastic effort the likes of which you're not likely to see more than once in your lifetime, a quintessential postmodern masterpiece of unparalleled linguistic prowess. I'm praying that one day a translation will be possible.

I'm a sucker for all German romantics, and Novalis is one of the best.

(Language: English)
One of the gems of world literature. You won't understand WWI without it; you'll also have considerably fewer laughs in your life without it.

I didn't want it do end. Mellifluous, elegant, heartfelt, intense.

I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. I fell in love with Murakami's style--which breezes along until it produces linguistic gems that take your breath away.
