The first time I read this deadly serious story was ten years ago and just having read it again I see that I was not wrong in being very impressed with it. It helps to have read Victor Frankl's book about his experience in the camps and how he (Frankl) came to grips with the ordeal and his obversations of how others (with a meaningful faith/belief ) survived while those without a spiritual life did not, (although he makes it abundantly clear that Faith did not, by any means, save most believers). Last night I finished listening to Elie Wiesel's " A Mad Desire to Dance". Wiesel's survival has left scars that do not appear to have healed. I love the man but he sounds like the Dyybuk is never that far away.
