Believe it or not, but it took me close to two months to read this book.The first quarter of the book was quite boring. I think it was partly because the author did not remind the readers of certain things that happened in the other two books. She may have considered doing a more detailed synopsis or whatever you call it that reviews the preceding books. It has been over 6 months since I read the second book, Inkspell. So, I had forgotten a bit of what happened.Then, the white women and 'death' came into the story and the description in that chapter made my imagination run wild. It was one of the best chapters I have ever read in any book. After that chapter, the book was a lot better overall. Probably because of a certain character that I won't name. However, the book did get boring again occasionally but I was already hooked and had to finish the book. There was another chapter or two that stood out almost as much as the other one i mentioned above. It makes me hope that the movie does well so they might consider doing the other two books. Although, by the look of the trailer, they have already somewhat ruined it. We'll see...

I almost couldn't put it down! It's not as good as the first book in the series but i liked it more than the 2nd and 3rd book. I really thought it would go in a totally different direction than it did but oh well...

An awesome book. I loved it from start to finish. It's the best book in the series so far.

Good, but not as good as The City Of Ember. Some characters were very dislikeable in this book. I'm sure she meant for us not to like them but they became annoyances by the end of the book.

This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and held it all the way through. I think it's one of the best books I have ever read. Definitely underated by most I think. I also enjoyed it more than the first book and I cannot wait for Inkdeath.

This is probably the worst book in the series because there is barely any fantasy in it. It's more of a treasure hunt. I recommend reading it only because it's necessary if you're going to read the rest of the series. It wasn't a bad book though.

Although the movie sucked very badly, the book is really good and I recommended reading the rest in the series. I was surprised by how good they were, especially for people with a big imagination.
