(Language: English)
It isn't only the simplicity yet creative the writing was, but it was also the originality of the Igbo culture from the REAL perspective of an Igbo man(Chinua Achebe). I can only say this because I am a Nigerian myself, though of a different ethnicity. However I have related enough with them since we share the same national border. Its quality is based on the fact that it is a TRUE Nigerian book. The character Okonkwo could not have been better built than the way the illustrious writer developed it. And the surrounding circumstances he faced was a dilemma the Igbo people and Nigerians as a whole faced then. It is a book that will introduce you into the African culture in the most entertaining and educative way.

Dami posted a review at 2009-04-16 07:28:02 for The Drawing of the Three: The Dark Tower #2.
(Language: English)
It is my second reading of the Dark Tower series and I enjoyed it. Though the first drawing (Eddie Dean) is my best of the three. I really appreciated the Character Eddie Dean and the action involved in his story. One thing I will give Dear Stephen is the ability to generate believable and real characters describing their qualities in the most practical way. However I think he is not that good when it comes to the romance thing. The way he described the romance between Eddie and Odetta did not arouse my appreciation at all. But all in all it is a fantastic book and it has made me breathless with anticipation to read the next book, "The Wastelands", in the seriesI am still reading it at the moment. And it is still a page-turner and a fast-read. |
Dami posted a review at 2009-04-16 07:23:21 for The Gunslinger (Dark Tower).
(Language: English)
This is it: Be patient till the ending of this book. It is like a mist covering an intriguing picture that clears at the end and everything becomes understandable. The concept of the book is 'maddening'. I really enjoyed it. |

(Language: English)
Fantastic!!! It was the first Crichton I ever read, and I wasn't disappointed. I really love the way Crichton writes, so thorough and very credible. He drew me into the world of nanotechnology and programming, arousing my interest in a way I never would've been when it comes to this subjects. At the moment it is my No.1 book and I will beg anybody to read it too.You should also be warned: It is quite spooky. |

It was really gripping. Very intense plot. With a suspense that can stop heart-beating. The background (Cairo) was well described: The culture and the minor characters. It is very entertaining. It is definitely a must-resd

Excellent! I really do not know why i was so enthralled. But it was a beautiful read. Despite the fact that it is a Y/A I reaaly liked it. I guess it was due to its immense creativity and simplicity.

It had a really good beginning but later on it became lengthy and outright boring

(Language: English)
It was alright. But for a horror novel I wasn't spooked at all. The end part was too far fetched: The spider, Macroverse, Microverse, Universe,... I really don't dig it.

Dami posted a review at 2009-04-16 06:35:47 for The Pillars of the Earth (Oprah's Book Club).
(Language: English)
It was a book I read after many years of neglecting novels. It was so interesting that it awakened my interest to reading generally.Ken Follet is definitely a master of suspense and thick plot. My best character is Jack Jackson (because of intelligence)and Prior Philip (because of resilience). It is definitely a must-read book, and once opened it becomes unputdownable. |
