After 'On Intelligence' this is the next book that has come close to intriguing me of the wonder of the human brain and the research that has gone into it.I got this book, while I was waiting for my flight in Boston and I chanced upon this book in a Border's bookstore. I have only read the first 20 pages of the book and it's already raising my interest levels. Looks like a wonderful read! |
Gautham posted a review at for Life of Pi A Novel.
(Language: English)
SPOILER ALERT:The book very well combines philosophy, humor and takes the reader through an enjoyable journey with some exciting/freakish incidents on the way. I didn't like this one chapter - Chapter 94 - in the otherwise excellent description of a castaway who finds himself trapped on a lifeboat with a tiger and survives nearly 200 days. While each and every incident is extremely well described, I am not sure why Yann Martel jumped into it as thus: "When we reached land, Mexico to be exact..." without actually mentioning how they managed to reach land, after having spent nearly 200 days without hope. The beginning drags a bit, but I feel it plays an important part in establishing the character of Pi. |

Finished this book in one stretch. What a book! A blend of a story with lots of philosophical thoughts, the book shows how you need to believe your intuition and read co-incidences and follow the path to your destiny.
