A portrait of today's woman! And of the endless war between sexes!Witty and lovely, as Mr. Shakespeare used to write.
Still, I believe that this play is addressed not to the women, but to the men,so to help them see the essence, not only the looks, the spirit, not only the beauty.
Women are described here as they should be, equals to the men, not objects, having own opinions, own beliefs and being respected for that.
Maybe a play also for the feminists, on showing them that no human being is (more) superior to another.
I think that this one is a must for every man and woman, a play that should be given to the kids since they learn how to read.

Sometimes I think Shakespeare was a woman! :-)
Or that he read women' minds as easy as he wrote his plays.
Still, even so, one can not see that Katherine's spirit is not entirely controlled by Petruchio, fact that leaves us to believe that Petruchio, like Katherine, has understood the need for compromise, that we can't entirely change the ones we love and accept them as they are.
In my opinion, the Taming of The Shrew shows can be regarded as a play for a good marriage.
A long and good relationships has ups and downs, fights (easy ones, not hitting) and make ups, sun and rain.Like life,in a way. Even if sometimes is hard for our ego, we must learn to respect the opinions of others, if we truly care for them.
Hence, the taming leads both ways: the taming of Kat,and the taming of Petruchio. Love and understanding tame everyone.
To be read while listening to Leonard Cohen's music!

The Talisman of Troy can be regarded as the follow-up of Oddisey. A story about courage, true friendship and consequences of the wars..

Although a bit predictable, Manfredi's Oracle will catch the reader in the vortex of events, not letting him gasp for air until the end.

So true, so current that it hurts!
One of the books that times can't change unless we start learning from our mistakes.
But depends on how many of us are willing to truly open our eyes and see where we are heading to, by repeating the errors of the past into our present and maybe future.
At the moment I m writing these lines, into my mind are popping some images from Gaza and images from the Holocaust. Here is the link: http://www.tubel.ro/israel-vs-nazism-trist-dar-adevarat/
That comes to show that, maybe, Orwell's 1984 is even closer to us than we think.
As we speak, our lives are under the "magic" of television, internet and we are already using abreviations in order to describe our feelings. Feelings that are bigger and stronger than "I luv/ <3 u", or "soulm8", "needu2nite". Or they should be.When was the last time you slowed down to eat dinner with thgthe family, or went on a trip, detached yourself from worries and truly lived your life?

Aside from reflecting the history of the U.S during the '30s, the conflict between the Ku Klux Klan mentality and the way in which Afro Americans were seen, Harper Lee's book should be obligatory lecture in kindergarten, school, high-school and college worldwide.
As children we are more open to the world with its bad and good parts, distinguish better the right from wrong and are more willing to tolerate and understand.
As kids, we don't rush in to judge without seeing for ourselves, and our ego hasn't gone through the roof, our pride not vanity.
Childhood is the perfect time to make friends and to cherish them, the perfect time to appreciate what we have been granted.
When was the last time you looked to the essence rather than the aspect of something?
When did you look in the soul rather than to the skin colour or someone's disability and stop judging him for what is told about him and instead appreciating what he has done?
