Ray posted a review at 2010-01-11 02:29:43 for The Futurist: The Films of James Cameron.
(Language: English)
It's been quite some time I've been obsessed with reading a biography so quick. (I finished within half-a-day's time.) An intriguing and inspiring life of a filmmaker with heart and passion, and not laced with celebrity gossip. James Cameron is one of my heroes. Highly recommended.

(Language: English)
An autobio by the infamous pr0n star. Some humorous anecdotes that got me LOL. But, nothing revealing or substantial to make this a challenging read. You're better off watching his documentaries.

Ray posted a review at 2009-02-23 01:30:28 for Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why.
(Language: English)
“Survival is the celebration of choosing life over death. We know we’re going to die. We all die. But survival is saying: perhaps not today. In that sense, survivors don’t defeat death, they come to terms with it.”

(Language: English)
“You gain power by pretending to be weak. By contrast, you make people feel so strong. You save people by letting them save you… If I can’t be a great doctor saving hundreds of patients, this way I’m a great patient creating of hundreds of would-be doctors… They’ll think they gave you life."

(Language: English)
"And who – in this damned universe – who can tell me why I should live for anything but for that which I want? Who can answer that in human sounds that speak for human reason?” – Kira, We The Living |
Ray posted a review at 2009-02-12 12:23:31 for Scarface Nation: The Ultimate Gangster Movie and How It Changed America.
(Language: English)
40% of the book has point-by-point description of the film, and (without warning) complete spoilers of films inspired by "Scarface" itself. And many points are repeatedly written in various chapters. A lot of filler material. Otherwise, a currently informative resource about all that were spin-offs, influences, and products... more than you care to know.
