I only started reading this because it is a book club selection. However, it is very accessible and truly creepy. Dracula is not the "sexy" vampire of Anne Rice books (which I love) but he is still beguiling. I recommend this book to see where our culture's current "vampire fever" began.

Different from the other Amy Tan books I have read. However, the more I got into it the more I enjoyed it. The themes of perception and reality are presented sometimes comically and sometimes darkly depending on the perspective taken. Overall, I liked the book and it definately made me want to research Burma.
