Ian Fleming's James Bond has some pretty interesting ideas about women and what their role is. But we are talking about a 00; a man who has to detach himself to get the job done, but I think Fleming used the word rape in contexts I'd rather he didn't. But if that's the character, than so be it.
This book is quite interesting, lots of stuff happens; there are bombs, high stakes gambling (though I would have rather he had played poker than baccarat), horrid (and I mean horrid) henchmen, car chases, double crossing and a rather graphic torture scene. It’s a short book but for some reason felt a lot longer.
