This is the life story of a boy who had a very rough childhood. Very well written with very diverse and intriguing characters. As you read you see the world through young David's eyes. You grow with him as he learns and changes. I wanted to reach through the pages and knock some sense into him when he married "the wrong girl". But it all works out in the happy ending.In my opinion the book was a little too long, and certain characters were annoying. Full marks to Charles Dickens, though, for another piece of literary genius.
