Another exciting outing for Sookie Stackhouse and her supernatural companions. Sookie is now a famous member of the cast of True Blood on HBO. But prior to her television debut she existed only on the pages of Charlaine Harris' novels. The show does successfully portray the chemistry between Sookie, Bill and Eric but loses some of the complexity of the suprernatural world that Harris has built for her characters. This installment explores the fairy portion of that supernatural world and its connection to Sookie. Harris is not afraid to kill off characters that have been integral to the series so far. All the death has effects throughout the community. Through all the supernatural battles, bloodshed and politics, the story returns to the all-too-human quality of love and the triangle between Sookie and her two charismatic men. The ending leaves you needing more answers. Thank goodness that Harris has not yet succumbed to the temptation to rush her novels and lower the quality of her storytelling. I will wait for the next book and hope it works as well as this one.
