Elevene: the Kiri myth of Ocean WomanAn intelligent sci-fi fantasy that is a pleasure to read. Elvene is a very strong female character. Myka, the young man she meets when she inadvertently lands in the sea near the island of his people, the Kiri is on the way to manhood. He already shows a growing independence of thought and spirit. Myka believes Elvene is part of his destiny; to his people she is the Ocean Woman. The Kiri work as a community, they hunt together, share their catch. Their society based on truth and trust. The Kiri are a people without any form of technology, and seemingly no desire to develop it; technology is the core of existence in Elvene's world. As the story unfolds, both protagonists learn about love, trust, respect, and the survival of the spirit and of a people. Kay Hart
