After reading "The Great Gatsby" I looked forward to watching the film. While watching the film I compared it to the book and felt that it was a false representation of Fitzgerald's classic. Some of the actors/actresses chosen did not portray the characters in the novel (ie Myrtle and Tom). Mia Farrow did a great job and fit Daisy perfectly. But I felt that the film did not touch at all upon many of Fitzgerald's themes which are very apparent throughout the novel. Coppola transformed the story into mainly a love story between Jay and Daisy...including adding scenes that were not at all in the novel! I also did not feel with any of the characters, they did not come alive and the movie had absolutely no effect on me. But the costumes and setting were true to the novel....
