Very fast and entertaining, but simple. For a children's book its very good. But the writing isn't impressive except for its brevity. I think that its possible to like a book without really admiring it. Clever, intelligent, and unforgettable, but I can't say that I want to read it again, and I'm not challenged by it and that's probably what bothers me. A book that has so much praise and popularity that possesses real merit, but that perhaps has been over emphasized because of its' popularity. It brings back all the cliches about magic, disappointing, since the fantasy genre has evolved out of just the typical. Well written. Enjoyable. I've read better.
