If you like Stephen King you like Mr. Koontz. Smooth read. Pick up put down, flows well. Sort of like a Hollywood blockbuster - not much effort required to engage with the the story (but more fun - this is a cold Winter night read). Keeps you guessing till the end. Liked his Vanessa creation. Innocent and gentle she aint. Scary stuff. Plot revolved alot around the power and aura of dogs and how they know more than we think (look deep into their eyes and so on). Made me want to go out and buy a Golden Retriever. Dean is onviously a big dog fan. And why not. Good read. Liked it.
