Awesome. As a lover of history and New Orleans, this was my favorite Anne Rice book. Her grasp of the English language is
second to none. This book introduces some readers to a class of free Blacks/Creoles or the Gens du Coleur in 19th Century New Orlearns. A small but powerful force in the eccentric city, the characters struggle with the loss of customs and traditions of their old country-French colonial Haiti-and the ever changing French/Anglo Creole life in their newly adopted home New Orleans.
