I used to be a Dean Koontz fan about 15 years ago, but somewhere along the way his style changed (or my tastes changed) and I lost interest. I've accumulated a collection for my dad, so before I sold them off I thought I'd read one to see if things had changed (again).My first impression was that Koontz was still as verbose as ever, and not in a way that particularly added to the story (for me.) That's _____ (choose: fabulous, wonderful, fantastic, great, marvelous, etc, etc) if you are trying to expand your vocabulary, but it was downright distracting to me. Yeah, yeah I know... I read too many fast-food romance novels. The story was entertaining and the characters were believable. I enjoyed trying to figure out where it was leading me. I was especially interested to learn that the female character was named on behalf of a woman that won an auction to be named in a Dean Koontz novel. Kewl :)
