Took me a while to fully engage with this book; I felt that it started a bit slowly. However, it's well worth the effort to get through the first few chapters. The story really picks up, and pulls the reader into a community of intricately developed and connected characters and a fully fleshed out alternate universe.
A major departure from the Twilight Saga, so whether you liked those books or not, do not look for more of the same here. Characters are more mature, and their conflicts illustrate deeply personal, yet universal moral and emotional dilemmas.
