In my opinion, the most moving story ever penned by Grisham. This is a tale of a woman who renounces her father's billion-dollar bequest, preferring to do God's work among the destitute and sick natives living in the malaria-infested Brazilian jungle. The protagonist, a lawyer who is instructed to inform her of the good news, is battling with demons of his own, induced by professional burn-out and liquor, and is himself rehabilitated after coming into contact with her. The essence of faith, spirituality and charity as embodied by that woman stands in stark contrast to the greed and selfishness of her siblings.
