Yes, the country he describes is the India I experienced. Dirty, vibrant, insightful, corrupt but essentially in a different dimension to most of the world that I have travelled.The book makes you feel uncomfortable as it reminds you if you are a foreigner what a fractured country India is, and yet, just a short time living among the people makes you understand the depth and meaning of life as it is so near the edge. Highly recommended
