I read this as a follow-up to "Autobiography of a Face" by Lucy Grealy. This book is written by Lucy's friend and fellow writer Ann Patchett. I thought it was well written, although I can understand why Lucy's family was upset at its publication. I think Ann and Lucy had a complicated relationship. Lucy needed constant reassurance, but considering her childhood (cancer, disfiguration, etc) it's not surprising. I think Ann needed to feel like Saint Ann. Both "Truth and Beauty" and "Autobiography of a Face" made me more interested in Lucy Grealy's life and writing.

I've read one other book by Ann Patchett and don't have any desire to read any more by her, although "Truth and Beauty" was much better written than "Run" the other book I read by her.
