One word - crap! Such a let down after The Alchemist. Brida is a confused twenty something bordering on nymphomania. The book mixes pagan rituals, occult practices (yes - there is a witch dancing scene by the light of the moon - ye Gadds!) and Christian (more Catholic) scenes thrown in. There are a few redeeming moments in the book which describe the natural beauty of the forest and cliffs of Ireland and also the echoing of some eternal truths (nothing new here) but overall, this was one book which was defintely a waste of my time.

Brida... ruh ikizini aramak ve bulmak, daha da önemlisi bulduğunun zamanında farkına varmak, ruh ikizinin değil ikizlerinin varlığını kabul etmek, bunun bir şans değil curse oabileceğini görmek, as x approaches to infinity this will not be a missed chance bilinciyle yola devam edebilmek... öyle bir zamanda/dönemde okunabilir ki mükemmel reçete vazifesi görebilir. ama coelho'nun leo buscaglia ya da richard bach tadında olduğu geçeğini değiştirmiyor yine de... if you feel tempted to do so, oku ve geç cinsinden yani.

The cover blurb promised me soulmates and learning how to dance to the music of the world. Inside was a very different story. Full of witch magic, rituals, Wicca and its seeming own odd blend of spirituality and religion, it's told in stilted text (Sorry Paulo - you've still written one of my all-time favourite books - Veronika Decides to Die) It does redeem itself at times, though those times are few, but thankfully one of those times is the ending.

I started reading this book some months back but couldnt get through it. I recently picked it up again couldnt stop reading it. I think its a kind of book that you need to be ready for whats in it, only when you have experienced certain things in life to be open to whats in it. I don't believe in witchcraft, however if you look into the deeper meaning. The relationship of Brida to her soul mate is engrossing. The ending is also unexpected.

Very enchanting story of young Brida's learning journey to achieve the destiny she'd followed in all her past incarnations as a witch. Rediscovering love and faith in the beautiful nature of Ireland; this is based on a real story of a lady Coelho knows. This book is about the power of belief and the tremendous powers that women have and do not know of until invoked. Very empowering and challenging of all of ours ideas about witchcraft and mystic things. Totally different- and revolutionary-understandings of Soulmates and sex are presented in the best narration and visuals as amazing as only Coelho could produce. Definitely one of his very best.

“Brida” is a story about a young Irish girl and her journey to find herself, knowledge, and love. Brida is intrigued by magic and the spiritual world. She has many questions and feels that there is more to life than what she has already experienced. To find the answers to her questions she visits the Magus, a magician living in the forest, and asks him to teach her the mysteries of magic. During her journey of self-discovery, Brida comes across a woman that teaches her to pray to the moon, finds her soul mate, comes to term with her past, and learns that true love ultimately sets you free. This was an interesting story. I don not think it is the best book Paulo Coelho has written, but it is worth a read if you are looking for something out of the ordinary.

Destino este que a torna a personagem principal de uma história real para muitas outras mulheres, Mestras da Tradição das Feiticeiras; que resistiram bravamente por guardar a qualquer custo os segredos dos mistérios da tradição da Lua, mantidos de geração em geração. it is a great book indeed, but with somehow a bit different ending as i expected, why she will not choose the guy who teach her to perform magic, instead of the guy who actually did not know much about her world, a person does not know magic at all. I want to understand what is the message Paulo wanted to tell, and from the book, it seems not so clear that whether the first guy is also her soul mate, is it? just very clear for me that the teacher of her is! can someone give me some comments and answers? just so much want to share this thought with the people who read this one!

Quite disappointed....not much inspirations how to find and identify the soul mate.... "each person can take one of two attitudes: to build or to plant. The builders might take years over their tasks, but one day, they finish what they're doing. Then they find they're hemmed in by their own walls. Life loses its meaning when the building stops. Then there are those who plant..... But unlike a building, a garden never stops growing. And while it requires the gardener's constant attention, it also allows life for the gardener to be a great adventure." "When you find your path, you must not be afraid. As a fan of Paulo Coelho's previous works, this came to me as a disappointment. Call me what you will, and I do recognize this as a work of fiction, but it became a bit too personal for me when Scripture is distorted. I also found this difficult reading, as it did not captivate my interest, and I would only read short passages at a time. Once the ending came along, it became easier reading, and I found the book more enjoyable then. Overall, it isn't a bad book, but not up to par with Coelho's other novels.

This book was a gift from a very special, gifted person. She reminds me somehow of the girl on the cover of Brida. She surprised me with this book (and another beautiful book) in my mail. For some strange reason, I have not gotten past half the book. I've been trying to read it since I received it several months ago. Even when I got back to Chennai recently, I picked it up again but..somehow, I'm stuck. This would have to be an atypical response to a Paulo Coelho book. I usually am hooked. Will try again soon. I think I have to be ready for the book.

Es impresionante y cautivante, irradiaba toda esa fuerza y misterio de la Magia, nos abria paso a ese mundo del que pocos conocemos, otros sentimos interes y pensar que todo es tan real y tan posible y este libro ayuda a entender y no solo a vivir, indagamos por nuestro camino y anhelamos encontrarnos con nuestra Otra Parte y es ahi donde nos realizamos de verdad, donde nos hacemos perennes. Brida es una mujer como cualquiera y sabiendo esto decidio ascender y no abandonar ni desistir, cargando sus dudas, su pasado, la incertidumbre y las ganas de aprender... tan importante. No es un libro ambiguo sino que profundiza en una sabiduria que sentimos muy en lo interior pero que necesitamos la ayuda de las Voces para que las recordemos y las apliquemos. Es importante que comulguemos con la Naturaleza, asi el Alma se halla en primigenio estado, intemporal, y ve la belleza en que Dios se represento. Una de las mejores lectures, quedo inscrita en mi Alma

I was not so sure I would finish it when I started it, but then it got more interesting, I guess you need to clear your mind and let it take on a ride of a different taste to be able to enjoy it, but as with every book I read for Paulo Coelho, he is a master in taking us in to a different world once we open the book and bring us back to reality once we close it.
