It was very, very slow.My friend gave this book to me for my birthday, highly recommending it. I gave it a try, and couldn't get past the first 30 pages. After awhile, I attempted to read it again, to no avail. I've given up on it, and while it may get better later, I just can't force myself to read past the slow beginning. The characters (as far as I read) are likable, but the frequent perspective switches can get confusing. This sounds a bit corny, but I understand that this is a book about a girl wishing for something to happen... the whole time I tried to read this book, I was wishing for something mildly interesting to happen. :P This definitely wasn't my type of book.

This was one of the first young adult books I read as a "grown-up". I loved it. I think this was one of the books that got me hooked on books for young adults. I'm surprised to see that the overall rating is currently only at 3.5 stars. I really loved this book!

A really great young adult read. Very well written: specific and vague, clear and unclear. About a girl who wants something to happen to her---soon.

Kept waiting for it to tie things together and I think it did at the end (though I'm not entirely sure it was so sloppily done). Picked it up at the library because it was a Newberry winner, but I'm also not sure why it was given the award. Though I liked the teenage internal monologues, overall it was way too fragmented to work.
