It was not as revolutionary as her earlier books but still good- it does make you long for Louisiana and the food and the lifestyle. Her description is awesome- the story starts out well but then bogs down and becomes predictable. Still worth the read though especially to escape everyday life.

Set in Louisianna from 1965 to date, this follows a girl through her life in a small southern town.

What a great story. This is the Ya Ya Sisterhood author and I love her writing.

Different from her other books, almost corny how positive all the characters in it are, but still cried through almost the entire book. Makes you appreciate the ones you love!

This was a very predictable book, sweet, fluffy. Sometimes that is just what a person needs. True Chick Lit, through and through

I really loved this story. Much more than I thought I would. Calla Lily is a breath of fresh air. I thought the author fleshed out the characters and the story very well, which I didn't feel she did with her previous two books. This one brought me back and reminded me why I loved her writing style so much after the first Ya-Ya book.

And there were a couple of surprises thrown in that I didn't see coming: 1) situation with Calla's husband and 2) the reason for Tuck's disappearance.

I recommend this to any Wells fan!

We follow the books' heroine, the improbably named Calla Lily Ponder, as she comes of age in the ridiculously quaint small town of La Luna, Louisiana, where racism and homophobia merit only a fleeting mention and then everybody goes back on lovin' everybody else, ya'll. Calla Lily is guided on her journey to adulthood by the Lady in the Moon, Wells' own creation of homespun Southern mysticism that I find particularly irritating. Calla Lily navigates the big city but returns to eternal quaint-itude in La Luna with the opening of her beauty shop, The Crowning Glory. Blech.

This book starts out with the leading lady’s childhood and the strong relationship she has with her mother, family, and friends. It goes through the leading characters life and her happy, funny, and sad moments. It's a light read and I enjoyed the characters in it.

Started the new year with a cathartic cry thanks to Rebecca Wells' latest character. A good book - I enjoyed... I enjoyed Calla Lily's story.

This was not as wonderful as the Yayas, but the characters were still likable, some even lovable. For a while, it bothered me how juvenile Calla Lily's voice was - too many exclamation points! - but I grew to feel that was a true reflection of her naive, innocent, backwoods personality and I was able to accept it as who she was. Still, while I plan to read 'Divine Secret' at least once more, I know I will never feel that way about Calla Lily.

Interesting read, but not a "must read." I thoroughly enjoyed the Ya-Yas series by this author, but this book just didn't measure up to the same caliber. I guess I really want a book that makes me want to turn the pages to find out what happens next, and this book - while good - doesn't fit that criteria.

I wasn't sure I'd like this book, as I found "Ya Yas in Bloom" to be less than fantastic. I was also a little disappointed that it wasn't Ya Ya related. However, with the first paragraph, I found myself ccompletely caught up in the world of La Luna, LA. The story was engaging, the characters delightful and I simply adored the moon "theology." Very nicely done!

You know have you have a best friend and you grow up with them --and then you meet thier cousin and you're like --ya'll are related? :( well that was how I felt about loving the Ya-Ya triliogy and the bitter disappointment of Calla Lily. It was very predictable from page 1 because it was so much like little alters and ya-yas in bloom. it was as if a person was telling a story that you knew have the potential to make you weep or laugh hysterically and you got to the end and were like serioulsy THAT'S IT? --the chapters are miny vignettes that are just let down's they go nowhere:(
