Book six in the Series of Unfortunate Events. Things seem to be looking up for the Baudelaire orphans. Their new home is a gorgeous and huge penthouse apartment. Their new guardians are Jerome and Esme Squalor. Jerome is nice enough, but Esme lives her life at the mercy of the latest fashions--orphans are "in" but elevator are "out," making the trip to the penthouse a long one. The Baudelaire orphans worry about what happened to the Quagmires, while also wondering when Count Olaf will appear.

I was surprised to learn what Ersatz is! I also think this book gives a lot of subtle clues to the overall story, more so than the other books so far. Guess I'll get to see if I am right when I get the other 7 books!
