I thought this book was okay. Coelho is a little too deep for me and I am not really sure where he is going. I mean I get the whole good/evil, but...What would you do when evil comes into your life?

I LOVED IT! this book really proves paulo's greatness!! it proved what is good andf what is evil and that they are a choice!!!!!! amazing!!

interesting but forgettable i wonder how can a talented writer like coelho be so inconsistent he can be sooo gd wif some while others are juz a waste of time

As much as I love Coelho's novels Veronika Decides to Die and The Alchemist, I was disappointed by this one (and even more by Eleven Minutes). Shirley Jackson expressed the same idea in her short story "The Lottery" in a couple of pages that it takes Coelho a whole book to express. If you've never read Coelho or Jackson's short story, you may really enjoy this book, but I don't think it's his best work.
