This is my absolute favorite of all the Bridgerton series. Michael Stirling, the hero of the book was love-lorn and heartwrenching. The most romantic character in all the series. Although I never though of the heroine, Franchesca much, she was a revelation in this book. A Must-Read!

This story tackles Francesca, widowed and now lonely due to the recent marriages of brother Colin and sister Eloise. Why is she finding herself attracted her late husband's cousin? Not the most compelling of the story, but not the worst. Definitely worth a read.

Good, but not my favorite of the bunch. I can honestly say, I never found myself wondering about Francesca much. But Quinn did create a good story with compelling scences. Just not my fav.

I just knew about Francesca in passing whenever she was mentioned by some of her family members in the previous books, and I was curious about her story. It was very interesting. I've read heroines who were widows and after years of mourning for their beloved husbands, they still feel guilty for falling in love with another man. From the very start, I loved the Michael-loves-Francesca angle, he never knew what hit him. One could really feel for someone like him, the merry rake who has that devil-may-care attitude whose life was changed when fate struck him. I liked the story a lot, and this has the most exciting love scenes, they're erotic and sensual and it's a breath of fresh air because Francesca is the only one in the Bridgerton siblings who was married before. The plot was well-written and with all that resistance I was beginning to wonder how they'd end up together. This book is about losing someone you love, but finding out that someone loves you, and that after all the tragedy you can also love again. I liked the way their story developed, and the ending is open because we'll never know if they'll have children until we read the next books.

Awesome!! Totally HOT!! This book far surpasses several of the other Bridgerton books. Francesca's story doesn't follow the typical JQ rules of engagement and courtship since Francesca was married before and currently widowed during her 'coming out' and search of a new husband. The story is wonderful and FINALLY ****semi-spoiler ahead*** We get as close to a sweet and actual proposal as we've seen so far. Up until this point ALL of the proposals have been absent and the characters are forced to marry b/c of being caught in compromising positions. THIS was different!! and i liked that!! Great book!! it rivals Benedict and Sophie which has held the #1 spot for me, for several books now.

Rating: A+ My favorite of Bridgerton series is When He Was Wicked, the story of Francesca Bridgerton and Michael Stirling. Heavy-duty emotions and feelings there....at the end, I felt like my heart was clamped in a vise, reading about Michael's misery. *sniff* *sniff* I haven't read about hero for whom loving a girl was so difficult. He knew that loving her is just bringing him misery and torture but he kept on loving her.

I really liked this book. Michael was a really cute hero. He was hopelessly in love with Francesca for years, the first time he saw her. Unfortunately, right after she wed his cousin and lived happily for two years. He vowed she would never know his true feelings.This book had some very sad moments to it. The reader was able to see and like John, Francesca's husband, before he died. Both Francesca and Michael loved him and mourned him. Francesca was pregnant with John's child but suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage, leaving Michael as the new earl. Michael, overcome with everything, fled to India to avoid his new responsibility and avoid Francesca. After another four years, he returns. Michael and Francesca slowly renew their friendship. It's then that Francesca realizes that Michael has malaria. The book then deals with the issue of Michael overcoming his guilt of loving another man's wife. When he finally realizes John would bless their relationship, Michael begins to pursue Francesca, who also feels guilty for loving Michael. I've never cried during a book before, but towards the end when Francesca visit's John's grave and speaks to him, tears were falling. I was disappointed that there was no real epilogue but other than that, I really recommend this book.

Not one of my favorites with her, but it still had some good parts. The whole story just felt awkward at times and too much. I think my favorite part was when the rest of her siblings comes back to during a scene, that was very funny!
