Compelling, if not a bit jumpy, read about an exciting trip into the heart of Congo. Crichton’s take on the Lost World format is refreshing, but very much a deadening homage as well. I’d rather read his Jurassic’ Lost World or some old-school Bertram Mitford instead.

Very odd book, again like many of his books the Idea is amazing but in writing it lacks, something. The characters are interesting, but predictable. The story is facsinating yet akward. All in all, i'd suggest it to those that like him, but warn em as well.

the film didnt do justice to the book!!! awesome story,and the race to congo, with each team trying to sabotage each othr skillfully is a best part of it. love m.c. for his teknical stuff and reasoning
