I feel bad writing a review for this book, as I can already tell that I gleaned only half of what Lewis had to say at best. This is not an indictment of Lewis. On the contrary, he had excellent points on education, human nature and our approach towards nature, but he is a very concise and to-the-point writer. Each chapter has multiple in-depth points, and I know that it will take me multiple readings over many years to get all he has to say. An excellent (and surprisingly brief) read.

As a side note, this book was a follow-up read to Richard Mitchell's "The Gift of Fire." An excellent combo read!

While you may need a dictionary to keep up with the intellectual journey this book provides, it characterize society's modern crisis educationally, morally and politically better than any other.

This is a harder read than other Lewis books I have read, but well worth the effort. Lewis truly shows his brilliance here.

Lewis is always the clear thinking. Truth, right and wrong must exist ourside ourselves or it will lead toe ht abolition of man.

Not very engaging unless you're wide awake, but if you are in a very analytical mood it's great.

I found it rather dull and confusing. I guess I wasn't too interested in the subject.

A bit tough for me to follow since I don't have the philosophical education to know who and what he was talking about at times.

A thought-provoking metaphysical exploration in the form of parable. A brief but thoughtful and layered story.

Very enlightening to me in that I discovered the long term effect of even the smallest changes in education. Although it's a little hard to understand at first and get into, C.S. Lewis has an articulate ability to walk you from the inception of an idea to the end results based in the pragmatic.
