Characters and storyline were excellent tellers of king Arthur story. Ellie Harrison finds herself in the middle of a modern medieval story legend and she uncovers a parallel between King Arthur and some of her new high school new friends. Loved the plot and the fast paced Mrs Cabot had done in this hilarious novel.

Once I read this book, i completely and totally fell in love with Will WAGNER(: This novel has a fantasy-like appeal to it but is based in a modern time period. A wonderful book and will always be one of my favorites. Meg Cabot has written an excellent masterpiece. This book connects modern day times with elements of the Arthurian rule and time period. Thrill, suspense, heartbreak and above all, true love will keep you turning pages. this is a wonderful book. love it and i recommend it to anyone.

Avalon High seems like a typical high school, attended by typical students: There’s Lance, the jock. Jennifer, the cheerleader. And Will, senior class president, quarterback, and all-around good guy.

But not everybody at Avalon High is who they appear to be…not even, as new student Ellie is about to discover, herself. What part does she play in the drama that is unfolding? What if the bizarre chain of events and coincidences she has pieced together means—as with the court of King Arthur—tragedy is fast approaching Avalon High?

Worst of all, what if there’s nothing she can do about it?

It's extremely cool how Meg Cabot intertwines history/ legend with the modern day. The main character (Elle) is a strong girl who sticks to what she thinks, and ends up helping save the main character guy (Will). This book is a funny, romantic, adventure. I usually can't read a book more than once, but I was able to read this book 5 times... it is that good.

The King Arthur legend takes on a new twist as familiar characters find themselves reborn into the modern world.

Elaine Harrison, the daughter of two professors of Medieval history, is unhappy when her parents move to a new city while on sabbatical. They are busy writing books and she is forced to spend a year as the new girl in an unfamiliar high school.

She feels inexplicably drawn to the star quarterback, A. William Wagner, and is soon drawn into mystery and romance. Can she help Will realize who he really is in time to save him--and the world?

 I loved this book!!!
I have never read anything by Meg Cabot before and based on this book I think she is an amazing writer for young people! I loved the story how normal Ellie is tossed into King Arthur's court in present day. Readers will learn a lot of info about King Arthur and enjoy a great story along the way. Be sure to read the graphic novels that follow. I read them first not knowing there was a actual book so I knew what was going to happen but I still really enjoyed this book!! Highly recommended!

Ok, so Meg Cabot is a GeNiOuS!Its true. She knows just how teenage girls minds work and she definetley knows how to draw you in,just like Ellie says in the book, " hook, line and sinker." I had a hard time putting this down.Megs humor is really great and the way she verses it makes you think she is a comic genious! I enjoyed this book SO much and not just because of the gorgeous character,Will Wagner, but because it was very entertaining and wonderfully written.
Read it! I can garauntee you will love it,well... unless your idiot and hate than thats just your problem i guess...;)!

It was better than I expected, seeing as it was written by Meg Cabot. A lot of her teenage books are simple, predictable, and with incredibly similar characters.

I won't lie - the main female character was pretty similar to all of Meg's lead roles. This was a bit irritating.

But the theme of King Arthur made the story enjoyable, and quite interesting.

Perhaps if the main character was stronger, and didn't think about her love life for most of the book, it would have gotten four stars rather than three.

All in all, a quick teen read to borrow from the library for your holidays, if you want something easy which you don't need to think about. But not one I'd feel the need to read again.

Very interesting re-enactment of King Arthur's tale with a twist. Sure, it's more for teen readers but it's a lil different from the rest. No whiny, goody-two-shoes of a heroine.
It was an interesting and unique book, drawing in the comparison with the well-known King Arthur's tale. Read it for an atypical teen read. Not too atypical but not the usual fanfare anyway. I like the twist in the end...

Quite enjoyed this book - a simple but good storyline about the reincarnations of characters from the stories of king Arthur in a teenage high school. If you like American teen chick flicks with a literary twist, this is the book for you.

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did, I really liked it! And it managed to have at least some parts that surprised me, which doesn't happen often in young adult books.

You don't have to know and enjoy the legend of King Arthur to fully appreciate AVALON HIGH, but it probably helps. Meg Cabot has taken the legend of Arthur and the main people in his lives--Merlin, the magician and guardian of young Arthur; the Lady of the Lake, who gave Arthur his magical sword, Excalibur; Guinevere, Arthur's wife and Queen; his most esteemed knight, Sir Lancelot; Mordred, Arthur's half-brother; and the elusive Elaine of Astolat, the Lady of Shalott--and found them modern-day counterparts within the halls of Avalon High School just outside of Washington, D.C.

Ellie Harrison isn't thrilled with leaving St. Paul, Minnesota, and moving to a new state, and starting a new school, while her parents are on sabbatical. Both her mom and dad are medievalists and Professors, and her father has dragged the family closer to D.C., where he can study up-close-and-personal the sword he's researching.

And then Ellie meets Will, the most interesting and good-looking boy she's ever seen. Sure, he has a girlfriend, the very lovely Jennifer, so she resigns herself to just being his friend. But as time goes on, Ellie realizes that there are some very strange similarities between life at Avalon High and the legend of King Arthur. The events that unfold, such as one of the teachers, Mr. Morton, going a little batty, and Will's girlfriend, Jennifer, being secretly in love with his best friend, Lance, start to add up to one bizarre scenario--could Will be the reincarnation of King Arthur, and could something really bad be working its way towards the halls of Avalon High?

I truly enjoyed AVALON HIGH, but Ms. Cabot's customary humor was strangely missing from the story. Although there are a few slightly humorous spots in the book, the laugh-out-loud wit and sarcasm from her previous releases is strangely absent. Overall, though, lovers of Athurian history or books about good versus evil will thoroughly enjoy this latest release.
