A very good read. It does get confusing at some parts-Leroux writes his book more as a mystery novel. For exploring this 'angel' it's more about that than anything else. For those of us who already know that O.G is actually a deformed ghost it does give the book less of an appeal. But it has spawned the imaginations of readers everywhere and that is what a book is about! Very good!

Reading the book gives you a much better perspective of who the Phantom was... wonderful, quick read.

Campy and slightly newsy, (Leroux was a sensation journalist), nonetheless Phantom remains one of my ten favorite books. Webber did an exquisite turn with the novel by making it pretty much the most popular musical, which I grew up with and have had memorized for years. Still, this novel does stand on its own merit, as a pop-fiction tribute to an extremely talented genius, whose ugliness twisted him into anger.

It was interesting hearing this book on tape...some parts moved slow, but there were some pretty riveting parts scattered throughout, especially at the end.

One of my new Favorite novels. What a good horror novel. It gives you the creeps, draws you into the story, has good character development and gets your heart going rather well. Not bad for a book that does SAW people into pieces. (Amazing what real literature can do)
