The fourth estate by Jeffery Archer, is a wonderfully constructed book about two boys from two different worlds, Townsend and Armstrong how they grow to be two newspaper Tycoons. Both are opposite in character but share one ambition of owning the biggest print media empire ever. Only one can survive and live again.Who's it?

I think it will be my least favorite Archer book... The story gets boring and predictable once you reach the last quarter...

Having officially read all of Jeffery Archer's series, I can say maybe he should have a change of theme..every single book doesn't have to have 2 men leading their lives and getting entangled at some point, only to become the staunchest of rivals..though the book is fantastic as usual and gripping, maybe a new theme would be like a breath of fresh air fir Archer's series

When I first read the summary, it reminded me of Kane and Abel. However, this book paled in comparison to the former. I liked the "pauper" in the beginning of the story, how a refugee boy survived against all odds. Hence, I was a bit let-down when he grew up to be the villain. All in all, still a good read (similar for all JA's books).

No matter how many time I pick up this book to read it never fails to keep me captivated... even though I almost know the story by heart... Last week I started reading it again...this time I'm thinking just few minutes before taking my shower...few minutes that usually turns into half an hour!

It seems that both the protagonists were were born to fight against each other ..... its amazing ......one of my all time favorites one of my all time favs

This is the first boring Jeffrey Archer book I have ever read. He is my favorite author but I struggled to complete this book. I think its because I hate both leading characters in this book, they r ruthless, deceiving, and cunning.

a good read....battle between two media barons....typical archer ending.... archer cud have shortened the length a bit, had to skip a few pages here nd there ... nonetheless..... a good time pass...... especially for those somehow related to the fourth estate!!!!!

Its hard to believe that a person of Mr.Archer's caliber could end up ripping-off his own book(Kane and Abel).The glaring similarities,be it the two protagonists(media barons here and successful businessmen in Kane and Abel) or the style of writing(parallel narration of the main protagonists), how they bump into each other and their fierce rivalry make us wonder is this what Mr.Archer is capable of? And I did not like neither the ending or the fictional characters resembling the real life persons (especially the character of Keith Townsend resembling that of media mogul Rupert Murdoch). But I still go with 3 1/2 stars just because I read this before I read Kane and Abel
