Very similar to the movie "Girl Interrupted" ... I think that movie was based on this book but with a different setting. I didn't care much for the movie but the book was ok.

c un très bon livre de l'ecrivain paulo coelho. Veronika, jeune et jolie Slovène, semble avoir tout ce qu'elle peut souhaiter dans la vie. Pourtant, elle n'est pas heureuse. Le 21 novembre 1997, elle décide de mourir. Sa tentative de suicide la conduit à l'hôpital psychiatrique de Villete où elle côtoie de véritables fous, mais aussi une population apparemment normale qui semble s'être réfugiée derrière les hauts murs de l'asile par peur de l'inconnu, désir de sécurité ou lassitude d'une existence routinière. Là, Veronika comprend que, à chaque minute de notre existence, nous avons le choix entre vivre et renoncer et que, pour se sentir pleinement vivante, elle devra reconnaître la part de folie qu'elle porte en elle.

Paulo Coelho is another one of my favorite authors. And the way he puts philosophy ina simple and a very light manner is incredible.

Very good book about mental illness and its roots. Coelho writes like a poet. He has an insight on people and manages to portray their feelings very well. If I had to pick a dozen books for you to read, among all of these that I have read. This would be one of them.
