one of the most beautiful stories i have ever read. neil gaiman is actually a genius. and the illustrated version, done by charles vess, is pure magic.

Movie is way better than the book.It´s a pleasant enough read but the characters are rather bland and lacking of depth, which to some extent they gained in the movie script.Anyone who, like me, has seen the movie first and then read the book will be disappointed.

You can't go wrong with anything by Neil Gaiman. This is a great story--such creativity! Better than the movie (aren't they all?)

This book is not all that great. Gaiman has so many brilliant, brilliant works, which have enticing plots and exciting narratives... And yet this, the one with a simple (though good) faerie tale plot, with nothing innovative or insightful, with only the occasional hint of Gaiman's trademark humor, was the first one made into a movie. Bad Hollywood! Bad!

Read this a fair while before the movie came out (which im yet to see) and can say that its probably one of the best adult fairytales around. It encompasses everything to love about fairytales whilst giving abit more whether it be a slightly darker backdrop, deeper ideas, more fleshed out characters or simply something else which normal fairytales lack!

This book was wonderful. I want to melt it into liquid and bathe in it. Also, while most reading experiences are fairly solitary I had the pleasure of sharing this book with my facebook buddy Jade. Thanks Jade ;) I loved Stardust. This book was fantastic. I want to melt this book into liquid and have a bubble bath in it. Last half of the book differs greatly from the movie and to be honest I prefer the movie version. So much more happens in the movie, where as the book kind of just peters out

A wonderful fairy tale that you don't have to be a child to love. Under no circumstances should you see the movie, though, it sucks.

Now this is a book that is fun, memorable, and leaves me fulfilled and loyal enough to the text that I don't want to see the movie. Just seeing stills from the movie where the witch is wearing a different color dress upsets me. This is a book I can read again and story-tell to anyone who is stuck in a car with me and is forced to listen.

Stardust was published first as a graphic novel, then as an actual book. I believe it lost something in that transition. I liked the story well enough, but I believe Gaiman's later books have shown much improvement on his writing styles. I highly suggest reading some of his other work because if you liked Stardust at all, you'll love American Gods, Neverwhere, or Anasi boys.

I read a graphic novel version of this shortly before the movie came out, very impresseed difference are seeable but im never that fussed.
