I don't know why it took me so long to finish reading this book; I suppose the more people tell me how good something is, the less I want to read it. But it's funny how things can change for me so quickly. I'm glad I listened to them because this book ended up being one of my favorite books. This book is the top example of a ‘classic’ novel and surely the most readable book in this genre. If you've in some way missed this one you must obtain a copy and read it.

In this time where the Blacks and whites have incongruously blurred into the shades of Grey, books such as these which talk of the good old values of honesty and integrity are nothing but pure gold dust. A must read for the so called gen-X.

Loved it. The fact that everything is seen through a little girl's eyes makes it interesting, funny and unpretentious. As other readers wrote, I wished I'd read this years ago!

No work of fiction compares with this book. The reader learns as Scout does from her encounters and evolving relationship with the Cunninghams. The reader takes the journey with her as she comes to understand Boo Radley and gets a glimpse of how he sees the world from his vantage point on his front porch. You know when she does why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. This story evokes emotion, sounds, smells, a time and a place like no other. The line, "There are some men in this world who were born to do our unpleasant jobs for us," makes me want to be an Atticus Finch in our world. It's not just thought provoking, it's a book that inspires a change in behavior.
