Not Clive's best, but the premise is interesting. It could have been a bit darker, and the plot meanders a bit at one point.

I started to read this boo and after about five chapters i really couldnt get into it, i didnt get it, didnt now what was going on, interestg at the start but no what i thought it would be.

Good, but I wanted a whole lot more. The end doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the book, and the main character's constant appeals are one of the most annoying flaws I’ve ever come across. The fact Abarat: Absolute Midnight was probably put to one side while he wrote this makes me even more bitter.
