childhood favorite. this is how i first learned the meaning of the word cadaver! A moving coming of age story, which captured my attention as a middle schooler.

I loved this story (and I actually read the book not listened to the book on tape). It is told by a 13 year-old girl dealing with the complicated way people both young and old interpret and respond to significant life events, including herself. Death, family struggles, friendship, and romance are handled beautifully. I highly recommend it for young girls, especially 8-13. I am reading this aloud to my 10 year-old stepdaughter and loving it! Lots of interesting characters of all ages.
