One of the best books ever written! It is amazing how intuitive Dostoevsky is with regards to psychology, and the battle between good and evil. He invites all people of spirituality to ask the grand question, "Why do men suffer if there is a God?"

I was a receptionist for a summer and I managed to read the entire book in two weeks while I was waiting for the phone to ring. Then I got to participate in the Flying Karamazov Brothers show when it turned out I was the only person in the audience who had actually read the book!

Wow, expert character development with profounds insights into the contradictions of human psychology with intriguing theological musings. I never thought a book this dark could make me feel so good.The story revolves around a parricide (murder of one's own father) where three very disparate son's all have compelling motives an innocent man is tried and convicted. As Dostoyevsky grants insight into the tortured and contradictory elements of the defendant's psyche we understand completely how he is innocent. The logic he uses in defending his innocence is completely consistent within the framework of his own mentality, yet rediculous to one not aflicted with his unique thought process.This is one of the great classics for a reason.
