I was eager to read this book because I so loved On the road, but I was disapointed. Not that it wasnt good, it was interesting, but it felt like it would never end. I know that the author wanted to give it a realistic aspect, but it was too long.(3)

It took a while to really get into this one, but once I did I appreciated the spontaneity and joy in the prose. Skip the forward and save it for after you have read the book. It will make more sense that way. Too bad he didn't make the connection between his increasing happiness on the mountain, away from the wine bottle, and his sense of disconnectedness below where he often preferred the bottle over the company of friends.

After reading On The Road I've become addicted to Jack Kerouac and anything written by him will get an automatic 5/5 stars! This book was just as good as On The Road!
